Asia Argento Joins John Richmond in Paris Cocktail Party
PARIS, Oct 6, 2009 / FW/ — Arguably the party of the season, John Richmond’s opening of his first Parisian boutique gathered some of the fashion and entertainment industries’ most recognizable names and faces most notables are Asia Argento, Carine Roitfeld, Franca Sozzani, Anna Piaggi and Hilary Alexander.
Located at 62 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, the 1300-square-meters John Richmond flagship store introduces the brand’s new philosophy, express through new architecture, exquisite art installations, futuristic layouts and effective merchandising.
With designer John Richmond and business partner Saverio Moschillo, who also runs the brand together with John Richmond himself as hosts, the new store opened its doors to celebrity guests last night here in Paris.
This brand new store in Paris will join ones that already exist in Milan, Capri, Porto Cervo and Kiev and part of an ambitious project to conquer the fashion capitals of the world as well as the prestigious cities across the globe.

Peekaboo undergarments were a bona fide Fall ‘09 runway trend—see Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Maison Martin Margiela. But Asia Argento, pictured here in a Chanel gown at the Cannes Chopard Trophy event, is one of the first starlets to test-drive the look on the red carpet. The frock’s plunging neckline and sheer overlay do little to disguise what’s essentially a jeweled bandeau. Would you wear something like this? Or is it a style better left in the bedroom?

Sexy Italian actress ASIA ARGENTO dreams of making a porn film for women. The XXX star, who has played a string of provocative roles in movies like Marie Antoinette and The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, had big plans to become an adult film director. She says, "I wanted to make a porn remake of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and take it to the next level. "One day I would like to make a movie about sex, especially for women because women's sexuality, things like women's masturbation, is still a huge taboo."

Asia Argento: Sexy, Scary, and Often Naked
Overwrought, volatile, belligerent and carnal—and, in truth, kind of scary even to her admirers—Asia Argento is the prodigiously lipped femme fatale people think they're talking about when they talk about Angelina Jolie. Only 33 years old, Argento has already amassed an international filmography worthy of the seemingly premature “Sexy, Scary, and Often Naked” retrospective BAMcinématek is throwing for her this week and next. Tonight's offering is Catherine Breillat's The Last Mistress, in which Argento plays an anachronistic ice-cream-cone-licking 19th century French tramp; and on Saturday you can catch Mother of Tears, her first collaboration with her father, legendary Italian horror director Dario Argento. Both films were originally released here earlier this year, as was Olivier Assayas's Boarding Gate, which plays tomorrow night and is the must-see of the series.
Like many of Assayas's most interesting films, Boarding Gate goes off the rails—way off the rails—in its final act. But the first half of the movie is the hottest hour of non-porn cinema this year. Argento plays the former employee and lover of an American businessman in Paris (Michael Madsen) whom she visits in his office in the first scene. Although Argento and Madsen had never met before shooting this sequence, you wouldn't guess it. Their on-screen chemistry is immediate—so palpable, frankly, as to have made Sound of the City feel uncomfortable sitting amid strangers in the dark. And that seems to be exactly what Argento, world cinema's reigning provocateur, wants.—Benjamin Strong
